Motiv Power Systems announced a renewal of its partnership with Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU), the largest bakery in the United States. This follows a successful 12-month pilot of five Motiv-powered electric trucks that performed well on real-world delivery routes. BBU and Motiv strengthen their partnership with 23 additional trucks in production and another 100 planned for 2021 deployments. Motiv’s EPIC F-59 chassis powers all of the vehicles. BBU will deploy these additional vehicles across California, New York, and Pennsylvania.

BBU is mindful of its environmental footprint and aims to set a positive example among peers, associates, customers, and consumers. The company implemented programs throughout the country to reduce water, power, and energy usage. Additionally, BBU has worked to decrease air emissions and use an environmentally responsible waste management system.

EV IN DELIVERY
Delivery vans are a popular choice for large parcel and delivery fleets as well as linen and uniform companies and bakery trucks. This is due to the ample cargo space that is easily accessible while drivers make multiple stops. The last-mile operations and return-to-depot nature make them a great candidate for electrification.
When shifting to electric, operators must transition internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs without compromising functionality and reliability. Motiv’s EPIC chassis uses a proprietary AdaptEVTM software platform, which provides optimized vehicle performance and efficiency. Further, the Ford eQVM-approved EPIC chassis retain the Ford OEM chassis warranty. Using an OEM chassis, body builders can install the same bodies on EPIC chassis that fleets currently use in ICE vehicles. As a result, fleets experience an even easier pathway to electrification.
