EnerSys Marks 25 Years of ODYSSEY Battery Production with Year-long Activities

EnerSys® celebrates the 25th Anniversary of ODYSSEY® batteries by taking a look back on the journey toward success. Through a series of digital activities launching throughout 2021, EnerSys will highlight special ODYSSEY battery moments over the years. These moments showcase how this power solution has become the battery of choice that customers rely on for transportation needs.

“Over the years, ODYSSEY batteries have become renowned for their power, reliability, and longevity for a variety of applications,” says Dave McMullen, senior director of marketing, transportation and specialty at EnerSys. “We are excited to pay tribute to such a historic product milestone. It’s been quite a journey so far, and we are just getting started. We look forward to building upon our legacy of ODYSSEY® battery success for many years to come.”

YEAR-LONG CELEBRATION

Part of the campaign, EnerSys will unveil a video series that chronicles the customer’s personal journey using ODYSSEY batteries. Each video focuses on a different application demonstrating the value and performance of this power solution across industries and demographics. Engineered with Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, ODYSSEY batteries provide twice the power and triple the life of conventional lead acid designs for a wide range of applications, including automotive/truck, powersports, marine, recreational vehicles (RVs), heavy-duty and fleet vehicles.

“The goal of this program is to continue to create a sense of trust and pride in our brand,” McMullen says. “We are promoting the 25th anniversary celebration to demonstrate how our portfolio of batteries has improved the overall power experience for our customers. Whether it’s used to start the engine in your family’s minivan, to support an onboard vehicle Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), or for a trolling motor in a fishing boat to avoid spooking the next ‘catch of the day’, ODYSSEY batteries are always ready to perform and tackle the journey ahead.”

ODYSSEY batteries provide deep cycle reserve power and cranking power with engine cranking pulses to 2,700 amps for five seconds. That is double the power of equally sized conventional lead acid batteries. Additionally, the Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction and non-spillable design of ODYSSEY batteries protect against high-impact shock and mechanical vibration. As a result, this provides longer service life. Backed by warranty, they feature a three- to 10-year service life and a two-year storage life at 77 degrees F.
