Prime Design introduced Cantilever Fold-Up Shelving and Modular Sliding Partitions to meet the demands of the final-mile or parcel-delivery segment. These product lines represent Prime Design’s first solutions for promoting the safety and productivity of the vehicle’s interior. Prime Design designed both new product lines with the driver in mind. The product lines promote driver safety as well as the ability to improve productivity and get the job done faster.
CANTILEVER FOLD-UP SHELVING
The Cantilever Fold-Up Shelving is available for cargo vans and box trucks. Its patented, one-of-a-kind durable design is best-in-class for simple, ergonomic operation that is safe and improves productivity and delivery speed. “The fold-up shelving concept reduces unsafe and inefficient storage practices by providing quick and easy storage flexibility within the delivery vehicle. An organized workspace is a safe workspace,” says Jon Busch, product manager for Prime Design.
Featuring strong yet lightweight aluminum construction, the shelving increases payload and durability to last for the vehicle’s life cycle. Integrated heavy-duty stainless-steel hinges support each shelf; Prime Design also tested the hinges, proving 4G dynamic load ratings to support up to 60 lbs per linear foot. Its mechanical design is free of failure-prone components, such as nitrogen gas struts, minimizing maintenance and maximizing uptime. Each shelf features a dual position locking system that is effortless and ergonomic to operate. Rubber grommets throughout reduce noise, vibration, and harshness to reduce driver distraction and fatigue. “We are proud to offer a shelving solution rooted in safety that’s simple, easy to install and operate, and built to last,” Busch adds.
MODULAR SLIDING PARTITIONS
The Modular Sliding Partitions are available in aluminum or steel for commercial cargo vans. “The sliding partition design allows quick, easy cargo access without sacrificing the benefits of a barrier between the driver and cargo space,” Busch says.
Prime Design’s solution provides a solid and secure barrier between cab occupants and the cargo space. This barrier helps prevent accidental loose cargo from reaching the driver during a hard brake or similar event. It also blocks any noise, vibration, and harshness from the cargo area that may distract or exhaust the driver. An integrated sliding door allows quick access to the cargo area and reduces steps in and out of the vehicle. This eliminates any injury or muscle strain that could result and improving delivery speed.
Prime Design also included an integrated lockable door handle and dual position latching system to secure cargo from accidental access. This design eliminates floor-mounted tracks that can cause the sliding door to be difficult to operate when filled with debris and may present a trip hazard to the operator passing through. “Our modular sliding partition is the best of both worlds for the safety conscious fleet,” Busch adds.
