Commercial Truck Trader introduced a new search option that uses visual images to help buyers quickly zero in on vehicles that match their specific requirements. The new guided search function dramatically reduces search time and has the potential to produce high-quality leads for dealers.
While buyers can still search exclusively with traditional word-based filtering, Commercial Truck Trader’s new search experience provides visual cues. These cues include upfit illustrations that make it easier to identify units of interest. As a result, the process of trial-and-error searching or finding the right keyword and filter combination is eliminated.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Users begin by selecting either Type, Vocation, or Class on the homepage, then choose an images under their chosen category. Type offers images of vehicle types from box, dump, pickup, garbage, and tow trucks to tractors, vans, and chassis cabs. Vocation includes icons for 19 job categories such as plumber, landscaping, and government/municipality. Class covers eight light, medium and heavy-duty weight ranges with associated visuals.
- Buyers can add multiple visual filtering options on any search results pages without starting over. This makes it possible to explore any number of combinations within a single search path. If a user selects Box Truck from the Type category on the homepage, for example, they can add Service Truck, Delivery/Moving, and Class 4 from the guided search categories to enable more specific searches and continually refine the criteria without starting a new search. No other truck marketplace offers this ability.
- Buyers can still apply nearly two dozen traditional filter categories on any search results page. This allows users to narrow the search by location, price, new or used, year, make, model, and more.
“The easier you make it for buyers to search for the vehicle that fits their needs, the more likely it is that they will find and connect with the dealer who has the unit they’re looking for,” says Lori Stacy, CEO of Trader Interactive, parent company of Commercial Truck Trader. “By providing a new navigation strategy that streamlines the search process, our new visual-based guided search experience delivers strong new lead opportunities for our customers.”
