ACE Recycling & Disposal Orders Mack LR Electric Refuse Vehicle

ACE Recycling & Disposal recently ordered a Mack LR Electric Class 8 refuse model to add to its fleet. The LR Electric will be used in a residential application in West Valley City or West Jordan City, Utah.

Mack Trucks announced that ACE Recycling & Disposal, based in West Valley City, Utah, recently ordered a Mack® LR Electric Class 8 refuse model to add to its fleet. ACE Disposal will use the LR Electric in a residential application in West Valley City or West Jordan City, Utah.

“Mack Trucks is excited ACE Disposal chose a Mack LR Electric refuse vehicle to further its sustainability efforts for their customers in Utah, while also meeting their own sustainability goals,” says Jonathan Randall, president of Mack Trucks North America. “Mack is committed to providing refuse solutions that offer zero emissions and improve sustainability for the benefit of the environment. We are happy that ACE Disposal shares Mack’s passion for a clean environment.”

The Mack LR Electric will operate in residential areas with a goal of 900 to 1,200 stops each collection day. ACE expects delivery of the LR Electric in September. Additionally, the truck will feature an automated side loader.

ACE DISPOSAL’S SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

ACE Disposal, a 40-year-old company, has a history of being on the forefront of innovation and using alternative fuels. The company was the first to order an electric garbage truck and first to use a CNG garbage truck in Utah. ACE also has xeriscape yard locations, solar power on its carports, and geothermal heating and cooling. The company also currently operates 66% of its fleet on alternative fuel, equating to 155 trucks.

“It’s always been important to ACE to make smart business decisions, while also maintaining a sustainable company for our people and our planet,” says Zach Buhler, sales manager for ACE Recycling & Disposal. “We have a longstanding partnership with Mack for many years. Their quality is top-notch, and as soon as they had an electric truck with battery technology that could last an entire route, it was a no-brainer to order one.”

The next generation Mack LR Electric offers a standard 376 kWh battery capacity for 42% more energy and increased range. Twin electric motors produce 448 continuous hp as well as 4,051 lb-ft of peak torque output from zero RPM.

Further, four NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide) lithium-ion batteries, charged through a 150 kW, SAE J1772-compliant charging system, power the vehicle and all onboard accessories through 12V, 24V, and 600V circuits. The two-stage regenerative braking system helps recapture energy from stops the vehicle makes each day with an increasing load. To accommodate electric vehicles, ACE Disposal upgraded the power coming into its facility and added an electric charging station.

Mountain West Truck Center in West Valley City, Utah, will service and support the vehicle.
