CLASS 3 ELECTRIC TRUCK

Mullen THREE

After first debuting in March 2023, Mullen Automotive launches its Mullen THREE, Class 3 all-electric urban utility low cab forward, to market. With fleet electrification making waves and strict regulations tightening up, this Class 3 electric truck may be the answer to your work truck needs and sustainability goals.

SPECS & FEATURES

The Mullen THREE features a versatile chassis with a clean top-of-rail for easy upfitting with bodies up to 14 feet long and over 5,300 lbs of available payload. The Mullen THREE tilt cab is designed for excellent visibility and maneuverability with a 19-ft turning radius, and the 125-mile range makes it an ideal choice for urban fleets that are looking to cut down on carbon emissions.

The Mullen THREE has a 120kW motor and is capable of both level two and level three charging. At level two, the THREE can accept 12kW with an approximate charge time of 7.5 hours from 0-100%. At level three, the truck can accept 78kW with an approximate charge time of 1.5 hours from 0-100%.

Inside, drivers have an interface with a 7-inch color touchscreen infotainment system, which includes AM/FM radio and Bluetooth, a high-definition backup camera, an auxiliary power outlet and USB port, a telescoping steering column, and superior storage. The THREE has bench seating with an adjustable driver seat, a center seat with a fold down workspace, and a passenger seat with a fold down back. The THREE is equipped with an anti-theft system, an anti-lock braking system, regenerative braking, electronic brake-force distribution, a center console manual parking brake, assist steps, grab handles, and power steering. Each Mullen THREE unit comes with two remote keyless entry key fobs.

The THREE is equipped with the Commercial Pulse telematics system, a full feature offering. Commercial Pulse provides managers and drivers a connected fleet of vehicles with maintenance alerts, real-time vehicle location, driver safety, battery state of charge, metrics, and more. Mullen’s telematics team is working with various third-party telematics companies to offer additional solutions to customers. The telematics API integration allows third-party solution providers to build customer connections by using standard secure protocols. These partnerships result in an efficient, automated, and secure two-way data sharing that keeps the customer in mind.

EASY UPFITTING

Mullen Automotive provides upfit solutions and support for almost every industry. The upfitter integration and engineering teams provide support with body builder guides, technical assistance, schematics, math data, and more. Whether installing a stake body, a flat bed, or a custom upfit, Mullen will provide assistance with every option and step along the way. The integration team forges connections between dealers, upfitters, suppliers, and customers to get the THREE to meet efficiency standards.

Both the pre-production and post-production units of the Mullen THREE have been upfitted with the most popular Class 3 upfit segments. The upfits have been thoroughly tested and validated by Mullen engineers for maximum durability, efficiency, and safety. The THREE’s classic frame rail design comes with pre-punched frame rail holes to save mounting time and effort, allowing a quick delivery to customers and reducing downtime. Fleets can utilize familiar vocational upfits currently available on internal combustion engine models with minimal modifications.

DISCOUNTS & INCENTIVES

Mullen Automotive is a Qualified Manufacturer under the Internal Revenue Service, meaning that Mullen’s commercial vehicles qualify for the Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit. This federal tax credit means businesses and tax-exempt organizations that buy a qualified commercial clean vehicle may qualify for a clean vehicle tax credit of up to $40,000. The credit equals the lesser of:

  • 15% of your basis in the vehicle, or 30% if the vehicle isn’t gas or diesel powered
  • The incremental cost of the vehicle

The maximum credit is $7,500 for qualified vehicles with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) of under 14,000 lbs and $40,000 for all other vehicles. Given the THREE’s GVWR of 11,000 lbs, under this rule it qualifies for a maximum of $7,500.

In many states and local governments, there are additional incentives and discounts that fleets may be eligible for when purchasing the Mullen THREE. For example, California currently offers the Hybrid and Zero Emission Incentive Project and, once qualified, the THREE could be eligible for up to $45,000 per vehicle for eligible fleets.

Mullen also offers eligible fleet discount opportunities for large purchase orders. To qualify for these discounts, fleets must apply for a Fleet Account code through Mullen’s commercial website, a Mullen dealership, or through a fleet management company.

AVAILABILITY

Mullen is now taking orders for the Mullen THREE, and deliveries of Mullen’s commercial vehicles have already begun. The 2024 Mullen THREE starts at $68,500.

Mullen has received a purchase order from Randy Marion Automotive Group (RMA) out of North Carolina for 1,000 Mullen THREE low cab forwards, which is valued at $63 million. As of September 2023, Mullen has delivered the first 10 units of the 1,000-unit Mullen THREE purchase order with the rest of the orders anticipated to be delivered throughout 2024.

With a variety of vocations within the medium-duty market, the Mullen THREE is certainly able to fulfill most of them along while fitting into strict regulations and assisting in achieving net zero goals.
