The Ram 1500 is expertly designed and built. With a 50,000 psi high-strength steel frame, hydroformed tubular front frame unit, and eight ultra-tough crossmembers, the 1500 is not only durable, it offers advanced occupant protection.
“The Ram 1500 is equipped with some of the most advanced safety and severity technology available,” according to Ram.
Let’s take a look at these features and more.
SAFE AND SOUND
The 1500’s side-curtain airbags deploy downward and cover the side window to help reduce the risk of injury during side-impact events. Side impact door breams help absorb impact force and redirect it away from passengers. With dynamic front crumple zones, the 1500 is engineered to keep passengers safe and secure during forward impact.
The 1500 also uses Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to help the driver stay in control under adverse conditions.
The ESC feature includes Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Control, Rain Brake Support, Brake Assist, and Ready Alert Brake. Speaking of brakes, the 1500 comes standard with four-wheel disc antilock brakes that help prevent wheel lockup during fast braking on slick surfaces, such as ice.
RUN THE GAUNTLET
Ram made sure the 1500 would have the power to run the gauntlet. The 1500’s standard-equipped 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine provides 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, and features Variable Valve Timing to provide optimal performance. Optional engines for the 1500 include:
- The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with MDS technology providing 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque
- The 3.0-liter EcoDeisel V6—the fuel-saver engine—offers 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of toqure.
Standard on the 1500 is the TorqueElite® 8-speed automatic transmission with thermal control. This transmission offers premium acceleration in low gears and effortless shifting via instrument panel-mounted Rotary E-shift.
THE PERFECT BODY
The Ram 1500 is available in several cab options, including Regular, Crew, and Quad. “Regular Cab models offer two options for box length, while providing the same amount of total interior volume,” explains Ram. That’s 62.5 cubic-ft of interior volume, 41 inches of legroom, three-passenger capacity, and bed lengths of either six ft, four inches or eight ft.
The Crew Cab option provides the most passenger legroom, as well as a six-passenger capacity. The Crew Cab offers 125.3 cubic-ft of interior volume, 41/40.3 inches (F/R) of legroom, and bed lengths of either five ft, seven inches or six ft, four inches.
The Quad Cab offers reverse rear door hinges for a wider opening, meaning fast, convenient cab loading and unloading. This cab option provides 116.6 cubic-ft of interior volume, 41/34.7 inches (F/R) of legroom, and a six-ft, four-inch bed length.
Optional for any of the above cabs is Ram’s Class-exclusive Active-Level™ Four-Corner Air Suspension, which offers automatic load leveling. According to Ram, this suspension is designed specifically to help improve capability and maintain the exceptional performance Ram trucks are known for. The adjustable air springs allow the driver to raise and lower the vehicle to one of five ride height settings, while dashboard controls let the driver manually adjust clearance. Plus, smart sensors automatically lower the truck at highway speeds to help reduce drag and increase efficiency.
A FEW FEATURES
The 1500 offers a few extra features, including:
- Available AllSecure® central locking system
- Available Class-exclusive RamBox® cargo management system
- Available remote keyless entry
- Available wheel-to-wheel side steps
But, the best feature of all might be the warranty. According to Ram, “Every Ram 1500 is equipped with some of the most advanced safety and security technology available, all backed by a five-year/100,000-mile Diesel Powertrain Limited Warranty for diesel-powered vehicles, and a five-year/60,000-mile Gas Powertrain Limited Warranty for gas-powered vehicles.”
Plus, you can opt to become a BusinessLink member and enjoy dealership perks, such as expedited service, complimentary shuttles, loaner vehicles, and more. Whether you’re building a new fleet or adding to an existing one, the Ram 1500 is a truck you’ll definitely want to look into.
