Hino’s 268A Defines Performance, Reliability, and Economy

THE RIGHT WAY TO BUILD A TRUCK

hino 268a

The Hino 268A has a wheel cut of 55 degrees, perfect for maneuvering in urban areas.

When it comes to buying a medium-duty truck, some fleet owners settle for a truck that has them compromising, giving less power for a more affordable price, more power with high maintenance costs, or a work truck with no bells, whistles, or even cup holders. Finding something at the right price while meeting all your needs can be taxing.

Hino owners wouldn’t know about that. A Hino truck has a reputation for providing the lowest cost of ownership in its class. Not only is the Hino affordable, it’s dependable and innovative; Hino engineers have sought out to set the standard in trucking.

THE DIFFERENCE

What sets the Hino 268A apart from its counterparts starts at the wheel. The design of the steering components gives the 268A a wheel cut of 55 degrees. Add Hino’s Meritor Easy Steer Technology and you’ll not only reduce steering effort, but it also contributes to long component life.

The Hino 268A is equipped with a Hino J08E-WU engine, granting 230 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque. Opt for a Hino J08E-VB engine and get 260 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque. The Hino 268A has a GVW of 25,950 lbs.

The engine powering the 268A combines high-pressure Common Rail Fuel Injection, Variable Geometry Turbocharger design, and cooled EGR with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for emission control allows for optimized air/fuel mixture across the entire speed range of the engines. This result is also in compliance with the 2010 EPA regulations.

IN THE DETAILS

Not only is it compliant with 2010 EPA Standards, The Selective Catalytic Reduction in the Hino engine also produces gains in fuel economy. The Hino engine is B20 BioDiesel Rated, helping your effort to go green.

A unit injector’s pressure depends on the “rise time” of the injection event, yet the Common Rail Fuel Injection system in the Hino 268A is supplied by constant pressure pumps that assure instant high-pressure response for each injection event, giving a more responsive engine and better control of fuel quantity in the combustion.

The engine also features a VNT Turbocharger that optimizes airflow by changing the turbocharger’s output based on control input from the engine’s electronic control unit. This allows for more accurate cylinder pressure control and air/fuel ratio. Better control leads to a more complete burn of fuel, resulting in better fuel efficiency.

BEST QUALITY

Hino strives to use the best components for its trucks, ensuring a low cost of ownership. Hino uses Dana Spicer Driveshafts, the preferred brand by dealership sales professionals, fleet specifiers, OEMs, and replacement part professionals. The driveshafts have been enhanced to offer greater torque, savings, and durability.

Meritor Axles were chosen by Hino for its 100-plus years of axle manufacturing experience, proven reliability and performance, and cutting edge technologies. Meritor is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of commercial truck axles for a broad range of vehicle applications. With a reputation like that, no wonder Hino uses Meritor on the 268A.

You’ll find a standard Allison transmission offering a fully automatic 6-speed transmission on your 268A. This transmission gives a smooth, seamless full-power shift, faster work cycles, and extended service intervals. With a Hino, it isn’t just a work truck purchase, it’s an investment.

STATUS SYMBOLS

Any truck can be configured and upfitted to be a fleet owner’s dream, but with the Hino, these things come standard. All Hino models are equipped with Hino Insight, the brand’s award-winning telematics solution. Conveniently located inside the cab for quick access to power connections are the Upfront Fuse and Power Panels. The ergonomically designed interior comes complete with air-suspension driver’s seats and are available in vinyl or fabric.

A rust-resistant, durable aluminum fuel tank is standard on Hino models. It has a stylish appearance and is available in 70-, 95-, or dual 50-gallon capacity. Drivers will have all information handy with the enhanced driver information display panel with at-a-glance viewing that lets drivers monitor diesel particulate matter level, fuel efficiency, voltage status, trip data, and more. A manual DPR regeneration indicator light alerts drivers when manual regeneration is needed.

You’ll reap the benefits of a Hino 268A the moment you get behind the wheel. The comfortable interior paired with its rugged, dependable core create a masterpiece of a work truck. Hino’s 268A truly defines what it means to have a truck built the right way.
