Welcome to Outside the Cab

NEW COLUMN, NEW TERRITORIES

New seasons sometimes mean new beginnings, and after a seven-month winter, it’s time for a breath of fresh air. Modern WorkTruck Solutions is taking an old feature and breathing new life into its lungs. Welcome to Outside the Cab.

motto for the MWS editorial staff as of late has been “Think outside the cab.” The goal of MWS is to provide its readers with the best, newest, most innovative solutions in the Class 1-8 work truck segment. Our “out of the cab” thinking is what brought you noteworthy articles, such as February’s “DIY Paint Repair,” featuring AutomotiveTouchup; March’s “Putting It to the Test,” featuring Hot Shot’s Secret fuel additives; and April’s “Autogas as Easy as 1, 2, 3,” providing a three-step solution to transitioning your fleet.

Now we want to take our motto even further with a monthly feature. Outside the Cab discusses a wide variety of topics from hot trends to expert advice to those in the industry who are just like you. If a work truck owner/operator would be interested in reading it, we’re not too proud to print it.

SHIFTING GEARS

Previously, Shop Talk featured fleet maintenance managers sharing their tips and insight on ways to improve uptime, decrease downtime, and which products the manager found most helpful. Our aim with Outside the Cab is to feature those tips and beyond. Far, far beyond.

A regular topic we’ll tackle is an upcoming product and whether it’s worth the money. We’ll discuss market trends, like lightweighting and alternative fuels. Did you or someone in your shop come up with a perfect solution to a common problem? Share it with your work truck neighbors across the country through MWS.

With this new column, we want to focus more on the reader—you! What questions do you have about a certain topic, application, or product? Outside the Cab is designed to answer those questions and more.

GOING OUTSIDE

We’re so excited to share this new content with our readers. This “out of the cab” thinking will prove helpful and interesting, keeping you coming back for more each month.

We’ll continue to share our articles and news on Twitter and Facebook, but we also want to stretch our social outlets to become more interactive, allowing our readers to suggest, post, rate how we’re doing, or ask us questions. Our Outside the Cab column and our social channels will go hand-in-hand.

For those who are less tech savvy, you’ll never miss a thing, as our Outside the Cab articles will all be beautifully printed in our monthly magazine. Questions asked online will be posted and answered in print, tips sent to us through Twitter or Facebook will also be printed. Outside the Cab will be inclusive to all generations through various platforms.

WHAT’S AHEAD

Stay tuned for next month’s Outside the Cab, featuring a product review of TuckVisors, an innovative product created to eliminate problems that occur when the sun visors in your truck or van just aren’t enough.
