The Chevrolet Silverado Chassis Cab Can Handle It

DIFFERENT AND BETTER

Silverado

Chevrolet debuted the most customer-focused trucks of its designs at The Work Truck Show earlier this month with the first-ever Silverado Class 4, 5, and 6 chassis cabs.

“Chevy’s designers and engineers were obsessed with making this Silverado the most customer-focused medium-duty truck of any major competitor,” says Ed Peper, US vice president, GM Fleet. “By customer-focused, I mean work-ready trucks that are easy to upfit, easy to drive, easy to service, and easy to own.”

YOU ASKED FOR IT

Powered by a 6.6-L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine, the Silverado offers 350 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque. Combine that with a standard Allison automatic transmission (Power Take Off option available) and you’ve got a machine built to work.

There’s no longer a need for a ladder in your technician’s shop. The Silverado’s design features a lightweight, fiberglass, front-hinged “clamshell” hood, with integrated hand grips, that allows easier access to the engine than a typical hinged hood. If the battery needs attention, find it under the driver side of the cab with an available Auxiliary Jump Start Stud.

Your work is loud enough as it is, why have a noisy ride? The 2019 Silverado comes with factory-installed rear air suspension, triple-sealed doors, and huck bolts for added clamping force to reduce cabin noise.

With the Silverado, drivers can eliminate refueling errors as the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank is located on the passenger side of the truck, opposite of the fuel fill.

The new Silverado is also easier to drive. A precisely crafted and contoured hood optimizes the driver’s visibility and perspective of the road. A 50-degree wheel cut gives an improved turning radius, improving maneuverability, as well as easier engine access.

You’ll stay connected in the new Silverado. An available built-in Fleet Telematics solutions can monitor vital statistics. Other connectivity options include OnStar and Commercial Link, a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless phone charging, Bluetooth, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

EASY UPFIT

Designed to make upfits quick and painless, Silverado Chassis Cab has a straight frame design with clean top-of-rail, single-piece frame rails with no welds or brackets, through-the-frame fuel fill lines, and a clean back of cab. With 10 wheelbase options and regular or crew cab options available, the Silverado can easily be configured to your exact needs.

Speaking of easy configuration, the Silverado has seven Cab-to-Axle (CA) options ranging from 60 to 162 inches, along with five axle-to-back-of-frame (AF) lengths sized in 8-inch increments. This eliminates the need to add extensions and reinforcements to accommodate longer cargo boxes on your frame.

“When you consider all of the flexibility, capability, and durability we have engineered into the Silverado, along with the proven power of Allison transmissions and the Duramax diesel engine, we have a medium-duty truck line that will appeal to both Chevrolet loyalists and competitive owners alike,” says John Schwegman, director of commercial product and medium-duty at GM Fleet.

ADDED BONUS

The interior of the new Silverado wasn’t passed over. The new models feature an available 8-inch color touch-screen and a USB port with auxiliary jack for MP3 devices. Enjoy easy-to-reach knobs, buttons, and interfaces. The comfortable seats, available in 20/40/20 bench or front buckets, are covered with high-wear cloth.

Upper and lower glove boxes offer convenient storage, and the lower glovebox is mounted below the center stack, giving you easier access from the driver’s seat. A multifunction center-floor console with 35.2 liters of storage is also available.

Your new truck comes with a 3-year/36,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty, a 6-year/100,000 Rust Through Warranty, and a 5-year/100,000 mile Duramax Diesel Powertrain Warranty.

TO THOSE WHO WAIT

“Chevrolet’s return to the conventional cab medium-duty segment is part of a multi-year strategy to earn the business and loyalty of commercial and government customers by expanding into new product segments, delivering innovative business solutions, superior value, and an exceptional customer experience,” Peper says.

Production of the new Silverado begins later this year. Order guides are available this spring, and pricing will be announced in the summer. More than 400 commercially-focused Chevrolet dealers are expected to carry the new Silverado line.
