Fontaine Modification Introduces Dual Drive Conversion for Kenworth Conventional Medium-duty Trucks

OPTION ADDS RIGHT-HAND DRIVE STATION TO KENWORTH T180, T280, T380, AND T480

Fontaine Modification Medium & Heavy Truck Operations introduced its Kenworth Premium Sit-Down Dual Drive modification. It’s the only sit-down dual drive (SDDD) conversion available for Kenworth T180, T280, T380, and T480 medium-duty conventional trucks. Fontaine already offers a sit-down dual drive modification for the Kenworth K370 COE model.

SDDD modifications add a right-hand drive station to the vehicle. As a result, drivers can comfortably operate the vehicle from either side. This is crucial for applications where the driver operates curbside, like refuse collection as well as street sweeping and road striping.

Fontaine designed the Kenworth Premium Sit-Down Dual Drive modification to make the right-hand driving position identical to the left-side position. This allows drivers to operate with equal comfort and efficiency no matter where they sit. Additionally, Fontaine’s experienced team performs the conversion at its Chillicothe, Ohio, modification center.

“A lot of engineering work goes into developing a sit-down dual drive conversion that not only maintains the excellent ergonomics of the OEM position but also properly relocates collision mitigation systems, HVAC, and other equipment,” explains Jamil Young, president, Fontaine Modification Medium & Heavy Truck Operations. “We’re proud to have put our decades of experience and engineering expertise to work in developing this modification for the vocations that need a right-hand drive option.”
