The Model 220 lost nearly 200 lbs after its latest redesign featuring a restructure of the vertical exhaust. This restructure includes a single canister design and a lightweight aluminum battery box cover, allowing for heavier payloads and better fuel efficiency.
Speaking of efficiency, the Model 220 is equipped with a fuel-efficient PACCAR PX-7 engine that features a Common Rail Fuel System. This allows the 220 to use less fuel without skimping on performance or reliability.
The 220’s front panel opens for easy access to coolant, refrigerant, power-steering fluid, washer fluid, engine oil, and the air filter, allowing for quicker service time for savings that reaches straight to your bottom line.

DESIGN

The cab also contributes to productivity. Step onto stair-style steps with nonslip treads and enter the cab through doors that open at 90 degrees. The inside of the cab was designed with more width and height to accommodate crews of all sizes.
The task of driving is also more comfortable. A driver information display helps track your truck’s performance and fuel economy, and a multi-functional steering wheel keeps backlit cruise and audio controls in a convenient place.

The 220 features electronic stability control through Wabco SmartTrac ESC. SmartTrac engages during high-risk situations to provide your drivers with more directional control, stability, and safer deceleration through selective braking.
Customers have the option of integrating the OnGuardACTIVE Collision Mitigation System, another Wabco system, to their trucks. This system sends alerts to drivers whenever a truck’s following distance closes and applies active braking during hazardous situations.
In addition to the electronic stability control, the 220 features automatic traction control that kicks into action whenever slippage or drive wheel spin is detected and reduces engine torque or applies wheel drive brakes to ensure driver control during forward motion.
