The Reach is a new generation walk-in commercial van from Isuzu and Utilimaster. Isuzu’s legendary diesel engine paired with Utilimaster’s decades of vocational van expertise provide the capabilities business owners require in a walk-in van:
- The Reach is a commercial grade vehicle that delivers reliable performance year after year.
- The Reach commercial van is a timeless style that will continue to give your business a professional image as years roll on.
- The Reach is a fuel-efficient design, thanks to its lightweight, aerodynamic Utilimaster body and efficient Isuzu diesel powertrain.
- The Reach delivers up to 35% better fuel economy—compared to Class 3-5 walk-in vans—than a traditional commercial van, as per testing conducted by an independent, certified party.
- The Reach is a time-efficient design. Its low step-in entry combined with pass-through to the van area allows drivers to get in and out and back on the road quicker than ever.
Altogether, these features provide you with a commercial van that can “reach” a wide range of vocations, everything from package delivery to food distribution, contracting to cleaning services, moving and storage to heating and air conditioning, and more.

IMPRESSIVE SPACE
The versatile interior space, up to 14 ft in length, can be tailored to your particular needs through a variety of integrated vocational modules that take full advantage of the Reach’s impressive interior height and width. The interior provides up to 630 cubic feet of storage space, plus up to 27 inches more headroom than a conventional cargo van, with 10 inches more aisle width than a European-style van.
ENGINE & POWERTRAIN
The beauty of the Reach is its ability to dramatically lower your cost of ownership compared to the walk-in van you are driving today. It starts with the state-of-the-art Isuzu 4JJ1-TC 3.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine that provides class-leading fuel economy and is standard in every Reach commercial van. This engine features a B-10 diesel engine life rating of 310,000 miles and is B20 biodiesel capable.
This powerful, economical, long-lasting example of Isuzu engineering has been proven in demanding business applications around the world. The 4JJ1-TC’s dual overhead camshafts eliminate push rods to minimize power-robbing friction. Its common-rail fuel injection system efficiently delivers fuel and a cast aluminum cylinder head reduces weight while four valves per cylinder ensure optimum breathing efficiency.
The standard Aisin heavy-duty, 6-speed automatic transmission has been specifically engineered to partner with the Isuzu diesel engine to achieve optimal performance and economy. Its double overdrive reduces fuel consumption, plus the automatic lock-up torque converter in second through sixth gears reduces engine heat and virtually eliminates power loss.

UTILIMASTER VAN BODY
Isuzu’s fuel-efficient powertrain is mated to a versatile Utilimaster body designed to be as economical as it is practical.
Utilimaster employs impact-resistant, lightweight molded body panels. The structural components are a hybrid of aluminum and highly engineered polycarbonate sandwich panels. The end result is a corrosion-resistant body that is 600 lbs lighter than walk-in vans of equivalent lengths.
Extensive wind tunnel testing optimized the Reach body shape. The Reach’s aerodynamic design cuts through the air with a drag coefficient that is 13.1% lower than current competitive vans.
The Reach’s body has been designed to last as long as the engine. All of the Reach’s body panels, including rear doors, are crafted of durable composite materials that are inherently corrosion and impact resistant.
ECOLOGICAL THROUGHOUT
Improved fuel economy not only reduces your cost of ownership, it also helps the environment, making its small carbon footprint another of the Reach’s advantages.
The Reach’s engine meets the most stringent emissions standards in the world. Isuzu’s 4JJ1-TC engine comes with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) injection, reducing NOx levels in engine exhaust by 85%.
WHAT ALL THIS MEANS
Every Reach commercial van that replaces a prior-generation conventional walk-in van driven 20,000 miles per year can save 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 11 tons every year.
A lower cost of ownership and ecological advantage is within Reach with Isuzu and Utilimaster.
ISUZU’S LCO ADVANTAGE
The Reach commercial van is part of the legendary family of vehicles that feature the number one selling LCF truck in America since 1986—giving you Isuzu’s lower cost of ownership advantage.
Isuzu’s nationwide dealer network is almost 300 dealers strong, with dealers that are trained to maintain your Isuzu truck with certified technicians providing vehicle support programs that will help you maximize uptime for profitable vehicle operations.
PATH OF ACCOMPLISHMENT
Isuzu diesel trucks feature a standard three-year, unlimited mileage powertrain warranty. Your Isuzu dealer can structure preventive maintenance programs based upon the type of mileage your vehicle operates. Your vehicle operations may qualify for reduced cost maintenance programs. In addition, Isuzu offers Extended Warranty programs tailored to your mileage needs.
Isuzu provides something different with its diesel models—a Vehicle Health Report. During the performance of each 10,000-mile scheduled maintenance procedure, the dealer generates a data report that documents the operation of your vehicle during the preceding 10,000 miles. This report not only catalogs driver habits, but also records operating efficiencies and performance deficiencies. The reports document acceleration, braking, idle time, fuel economy, and more, giving the owner a documented performance summary of operation. Understanding the operation of your vehicle is a component of necessary knowledge to ensure you realize the lowest cost of operation potential.
Your Isuzu dealer is trained to help you realize how the total cost of operation of your vehicle affects the realization of the lowest cost of vehicle ownership.
