Well, ladies and gents, ICUEE 2017 is quickly approaching, and you have a lot to look forward to. From October 3 to 5 in Louisville, Kentucky, you’ll have the opportunity to talk shop with venders, manufacturers, upfit experts, and more. ICUEE has often been a platform that launches new and innovative fleet technology, news, and information about upcoming product releases. Plus, the field classrooms you find at ICUEE offer hands-on knowledge.
The first thing you should know about this year’s ICUEE expo is that it’s bigger than ever. According to a press release from ICUEE, “Strong exhibitor support has pushed ICUEE, The Demo Expo, to record size with 28 acres of the latest utility and construction equipment, products, and technologies for attendees to explore from more than 900 exhibitors.” More than 20 percent of these exhibitors are new to the show.
NEW FIELD CLASSROOMS
At this year’s ICUEE, you’ll find some familiar, as well as some new, field classrooms. “Rounding out the ICUEE education lineup are popular returning programs: the Utility Safety and Utility Fleet conferences and the indoor Demo Stage,” according to ICUEE.
“Education really ramps up the value of ICUEE for attendees; they have convenient access to a variety of quality, industry-focused sessions to gain knowledge that improves their job performance and helps their companies succeed,” says Rick Rodier, ICUEE 2017 chair and vice president and general manager of the Sitework Systems Division of The Toro Company.
“The new walk-around sessions will use the show floor instead of PowerPoint presentations to provide an overview on topics geared for those new to the industry,” according to ICUEE. “Ten 90-minute sessions will focus on aerial devices, fleet management, high voltage transmission technology, horizontal directional drilling, and vacuum excavation.”
CONFERENCES AND CERTIFICATES
This year at ICUEE, you’ll find the iP Utility Safety Conference, the Utility Fleet Conference, and several industry certifications. The iP Utility Safety Conference is a leading education event that will gather utility safety and/or operations professionals from across the country starting Monday, October 2, for three days of education and networking. The Utility Fleet Conference will host fleet managers, fleet maintenance teams, fleet operators, and aspiring fleet leaders starting Monday, October 2, for three days of insights on maximizing fleet efficiencies.
Certification programs will include the Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification and the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO). CUSP is the only program that offers safety credentials to utilities, related contractors, and communication providers. NCCCO will have written and recertification exam administrations for those seeking to become CCO-certified or renew their certifications in most CCO programs.
CHARITY AUCTION
This year, ICUEE is again teaming with the Call of Duty™ Endowment for an industry-giveback benefit auction, all proceeds for which will go to the Endowment. According to the Endowment, every $619 raised helps a veteran obtain a good job.
“The Endowment has funded the job placement of more than 34,000 veterans and has a goal of placing 50,000 veterans in jobs by 2019,” according to ICUEE.
“Unemployment among post-9/11 veterans is 2.6 times greater than the national average, so the work of the Endowment is more critical than ever,” says Tricia Mallett, ICUEE show director. “We received an enthusiastic and generous response at the last ICUEE and we encourage all 2017 participants to join with their peers in supporting the 2017 auction.”
