Stertil-Koni Floor Pit Jacks with a Hydraulic Telescopic Piston Deliver Safe, Dependable Wheels-free Lifting Across North America

Stertil-Koni provides a heightened level of safe, dependable, and durable lifting in workshops across North America using below-floor concrete pits. The solution? Air hydraulic pit jacks—equipped with telescopic pistons—engineered by Stertil-Koni.

The challenge: Many of today’s pits do not have the proper equipment to enable mechanics to safely remove under-vehicle components. These components include transmissions, axles, exhaust systems, and more, as well as work on wheels. As a result, mechanics under-use many pits other than for routine inspections and standard lubrication maintenance.

In response, Stertil-Koni engineered its free-standing rolling pit jack products that now deliver a lifting capacity of 33,000 lbs. Stertil-Koni designed these jacks specifically to safely operate on the pit floor, independent of pit edges or walls for support. Stertil-Koni designed it this way because these surfaces might not be strong enough to support the jack.

Explains Peter Bowers, technical sales support manager at Stertil-Koni, “Our unique Floor Pit Jack design optimizes performance and safety with a completely freestanding mobile unit. Lifting is done by an air driven, fully hydraulic pump actuated by tandem foot pedals.” One pedal raises the piston in contact with the vehicle lifted while the other allows lifting in small increments. In this way, the service technician is hands-free to work on the vehicle or operate other tools.

“And here’s what’s really special,” Bowers continues, “this lifting approach does not use the vehicle wheels as lifting touch points, allowing their free movement and removal. While it’s exceptionally popular with our customers for removal and replacement of transmissions, it’s also a great solution for providing complete access to vehicle wheels.”

The Stertil-Koni Floor Pit Jacks, available in two base frames, deliver a robust 33,000-lb lifting capacity. They also operate with a smooth, high-speed piston that provides an expansive height of 87 inches.

Concluded Stertil-Koni President Dr. Jean DellAmore, “The Floor Pit Jacks are part of our broad range of heavy-duty lifting systems, shop equipment, and accessories—all designed to deliver the very best in safe, dependable, and durable products supported by world-class customer service.”
