Volvo Trucks North America celebrates National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, recognizing the industry’s 3.5 million professional drivers. Professional drivers serve as a lifeline, transporting food, fuel, medications, and other goods, especially this year under pandemic conditions.
Truck drivers comprise one of the most important workforces on the front lines of US commerce and logistics. Volvo Trucks salutes their sacrifice, commitment, and professionalism as they continue working to accelerate our economy back to full speed.
“Professional truck drivers play an integral role in keeping our economy moving,” says Peter Voorhoeve, Volvo Trucks North America president. “That was especially apparent since the onset of the pandemic this year … Volvo Trucks would like to give these drivers the recognition they deserve and thank them for their commitment to the crucial job of transporting the food, cargo, consumer products, and equipment that are essential to our everyday lives.”
As COVID-19 spread across the United States earlier this year, Volvo Trucks worked with professional truck driver lifestyle media outlet CDLLife to bring nutritious, fresh meals and support to drivers who were faced with limited restaurant and diner options while on the road due to the pandemic. The campaign covered more than 3,783 miles, distributing 4,000 meals to drivers at 17 stops during the month of May this year.
Using social media hashtags #NTDAW and #ThankATrucker, Volvo Trucks marks the occasion by expressing its appreciation for professional truck drivers. It also reinforces its efforts to keep drivers safe and productive on the job.
Volvo Trucks works closely with the drivers who are vital to our way of life. The brand encourages everyone to #ThankATrucker during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
