The 2016 Freightliner Sprinter has a lot to offer: its best-in-class payload, cargo volume, and interior standing height. With Freightliner, however, innovation and upgrades don’t stop at “good enough.”
The 2016 Sprinter features Crosswind Assist—the only crosswind-mitigation system in the commercial van segment—and now offers a 4×4 drivetrain to handle harsh road and weather conditions. Sprinter’s 4×4 option—available on select crew, cargo, and passenger vans—features on-demand 4-wheel drive, higher ground clearance, and high- and low-range options. It’s the only 4×4 that combines Load-Adaptive ESP® (Electronic Stability Program) and 4-ETS to help maintain stability and control by adjusting to road conditions.
SAFETY FIRST
Nothing is more important to a business than the people behind it. So, keeping your drivers safe while protecting your assets is a major selling point. Freightliner’s heritage as the industry’s safety leaders means it has stepped up to the task of protecting your driver, your cargo, and—of course—the vehicle itself.
The 2016 Sprinter’s Crosswind Assist—a course-correcting brake application to help vehicle stabilization during strong crosswinds—is a standard safety feature on 2500 models. Also offered is optional Collision Prevention Assist—a radar-based proximity warning system that issues both visual and audible warnings when the Sprinter gets too close to the vehicle ahead. Other optional safety features include Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping, and Highbeam Assist.

WHO’S GOT THE POWER?
The Freightliner Sprinter’s safety features show Freightliner’s responsible side, but the engine options prove it’s ok to be a “fun-and-games” kind of company. The 2016 Sprinter is available with a standard 4-cylinder 2-stage turbo diesel engine with 7-speed automatic transmission. Need something more heavy-duty? Sprinter also offers an optional V6 diesel engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The standard 4-cylinder engine puts out 161 hp at 3,800 rpm and 265.5 lb-ft of torque at 1,400-2,400 rpm. The 4-cylinder’s two-stage turbo delivers powerful torque with virtually zero turbo lag. The optional V6 engine—with turbocharger and intercooler function—offers up 188 hp at 3,800 rpm and 325 lb-ft of torque at 1,400-2,400 rpm. No matter which option you choose, you can have the confidence that your driver and cargo will make it to the destination safely and on time.
Of course, like any progressive company, Freightliner is making strides at environmental protection. To meet today’s green standards, the Sprinter provides optional BlueTEC® clean-diesel technology, resulting in a Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) that produces up to 90 percent fewer emissions than equivalent gas-powered vehicles without sacrificing power.
FREIGHTLINER GIVES YOU OPTIONS
It’s your business. It’s your fleet. So, what do you need for maximum efficiency? Freightliner gives you a number of options to best meet your business/fleet needs. Freightliner’s Sprinter Cargo boasts cavernous interior space with its tall standing height; available Super High Roof, which gives Sprinter a class-leading 7-ft interior standing height; 5-ft x 8-ft load floor; class-leading payload capacities; and up to 586 cubic feet of cargo space. The Sprinter Cargo also has class-leading payloads. Its rear doors fold back 270 degrees and is available with a driver-side sliding door for better access.
If the Sprinter Cargo isn’t quite what you’re looking for, there’s always the Sprinter Cab Chassis/Cutaway. Boasting a best-in-class payload and with two wheelbase options, the Cab Chassis/Cutaway is compatible with a range of bodies. It features rack-and-pinion steering; independent front suspension; a flat, unobstructed frame rail; and available roof- and rear-wall deletion. The lightweight, sturdy frame offers straight-line stability and roll resistance, as well.
MasterUpfitters can easily transform Sprinter Vans and Cab Chassis/Cutaways into the vehicle you need for the job. The Sprinter Van’s nearly vertical walls, tall interior standing heights, abundant space, and sophisticated programmable electronics make it the ultimate foundation for your upfit needs.
ACCESSORIZE FOR SUCCESS
Of course, no vehicle is complete without accessories. The 2016 Freightliner Sprinter has a number of accessories for your benefit. Designed to fit your Sprinter Van’s contours, Sprinter’s all-Season floor mats are made of rugged, dirt-repellent natural rubber to work against rain, mud, snow, and whatever else in which your driver’s boots may be covered. The Becker® MAP PILOT advanced navigation upgrade fully integrates with your Sprinter’s in-dash displays and steering-wheel controls, while speech recognition allows for hands-free navigation input. You can even take advantage of your Sprinter’s considerable hauling capacity with a trailer hitch designed specifically for your model.
With the 2016 Freightliner Sprinter, you can pick the van and/or body that has everything you need for your business to excel.
